Cointreau comes from the unique distillation of sweet and bitter orange peels, allowing this crystal clear liqueur to reach the perfect balance between sweetness and freshness.
Cointreau is the Original Triple Sec, the orange liqueur with the highest concentration in orange essential oils. See for yourself: Cointreau turns opalescent in contact with ice or water, as its essential oils become instantly visible.
This is why Cointreau is the most aromatic orange liqueur.
Appearance: Cointreau is perfectly colourless and characterised by its total transparency and remarkable brightness. It is crystalline and completely colourless. The tears that cling to the sides of the glass are proof of its smooth richness.
Nose: It releases pronounced aromas which are both refined and complex; the result of a mixture of zesty bitter orange notes combined with the freshness of lemon and vegetal notes with a hint of geranium leaf. These are followed by the fruity, rounded, soft notes of sweet oranges with a touch of candied fruit.
Palate: At the start there is good density, dominated by a sweet, full-bodied flavour, quickly balanced out by the warming sensation of the alcohol, a hint of acidity and slight bitterness. This is followed by a balanced blend of sweet and bitter flavours from the orange peel, which creates a pleasantly fresh sensation.
