Good, robust Saint-Julien from the left bank region of Bordeaux (Cabernet Sauvignon plus Cabernet Franc and Merlot). Medium ruby core with good legs. Enticing aromas of ripe black cherry and damson with a hint of vanilla and coffee. Smooth and balanced with concentrated flavours of blackcurrant and redcurrant. Masculine and full-bodied with firm tannins that give the wine structure plus a touch of minerality and a pencil-lead edge. It can be drunk now but could benefit from further cellaring to develop maturity.
A good complement for beef dishes including Roast Beef, Sirloin of Beef, Pavé de Boeuf, Beef Medallions or Beef Entrecôte. Perfect with Pauillac Lamb or Confit Duck. Also pairs well with beef carpaccio, cured beef or jambon cru. Taste it with hard cheese like Comté or Beaufort.
